Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need paddleboarding experience?
Not at all. This retreat is suitable for beginners as well as those who have paddleboarded before. Lo will be there to get you set up, comfortable and confident on the board.
Do I need to bring my own paddleboard?
No. All paddleboards and paddleboarding equipment are included in the price.
What should I wear?
We strongly encourage you to wear a wetsuit, particularly during the cooler months, as you’ll be spending time both paddleboarding and swimming in open water.
We also recommend bringing a woolly hat for paddleboarding and a swim cap for your wild swim to help you stay comfortable in cooler conditions.
Open-water temperatures can be cold even when the weather feels relatively warm, so please come prepared for the conditions.
What should I bring?
Please bring:
A wetsuit
Swimwear
A woolly hat
A swim cap
A towel
Suitable footwear for around the lake
Plenty of warm, comfortable layers for afterwards
A changing robe, if you have one
All paddleboarding equipment is provided.
Do I have to swim for the full 30 minutes?
Absolutely not. The swim portion is your time to enjoy the lake at a level that feels comfortable for you. There is no expectation to remain in cold water for the entire 30 minutes.
Can I come on my own?
Definitely. You don’t need to arrive with a group or a friend. These sessions are designed to feel welcoming and relaxed, whether you come alone or with someone you know.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We operate outdoors and sessions will usually continue in typical British weather. However, safety always comes first. If conditions mean we need to cancel the retreat, we will contact you.
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
We are a small independent business and places on our retreats are limited. Once a space has been reserved for you, we may have turned somebody else away, so we operate a strict 48-hour cancellation and rescheduling policy.
If you need to cancel or move your booking, please do so at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time.
For example, if your retreat begins at 10am on Saturday, the cancellation/rescheduling deadline is 10am on Thursday.
Unfortunately, cancellations or requests to move a booking made within 48 hours of the start time cannot be refunded or transferred to another date.
If Wild Wood needs to cancel the session, for example because weather or water conditions make it unsafe to proceed, we will contact you and arrange the appropriate rescheduling or refund.
By booking, you agree to our cancellation and rescheduling policy.
