Lifeguards are only present at the following times of the week:

  • Monday: 10am (with Dan)

  • Wednesday 10am (with Tracey)

  • Friday 9.30 (Wild Wood Swimmers Club- see details below

  • Friday: 1pm (with Dan)

  • Sunday: 10am (with Tracey)

  • Sunday: 3pm (with Tracey)

    New Swimmers require full induction prior to first swim: please contact me to arrnage this.

Swimming at Wild-Wood UK is available for up to 15 swimmers at a time. Please note that the lake is not always supervised by a lifeguard, so all swimming is at your own risk.

LIMITED WINTER SWIMMING MEMBERSHIP NOW AVAILABLE

We strongly recommend completing an open water swimming induction course before using the lake. During the winter months, only those who have completed this induction will be permitted to swim.

All swimmers will have to have competency swim or done an introduction to open water swimming course. The course can have been completed elsewhere.

Each week, Laura from curious Rose meet by the spring-fed waters for an invigorating swim — the perfect wake-up call. After the plunge, they gather around the fire to share fresh bakes, hot drinks, and good conversation.

It’s more than a swim. It’s a ritual of nature, community, and connection.

FAQs

What is the access like at the lake?

We have new step access into the water with handrails and sandbag landing.

Do you have life guards?

We do not currently have life guards and you swim at Wild-Wood at your own risk. We aim to have life guards here in the winter months.

Is there life in the lake?

Yes, the lake has additional wild life swimming alongside you, mainly in the form of fish- specifically carp who you’ll occasionally see jumping!

Is changing available at the lake?

we have brand new changing rooms next to the car park, please leave the spaces as your find the,

Do you have toilets?

We have one toilet and shower alongside the changing rooms.

Do you have monthly membership?

These are currently sold out- but we will be offering a lucky 20 “winter swimmers" monthly membership for our revised winter months (October to April). We will notify regular swimmers when these go on sale and will revise our monthly memberships on a monthly basis.

Is wild swimming safe for beginners?
In the summer months- absolutely. However, in the colder months, we ask all swimmers to have completed an open water induction course/ competency swim in order to be able to swim at Wild-Wood. The winter wild swimming is for experienced swimmers as the temperature can go as low as 1 degree, we have even had swimmers break the ice!

What should I bring?
We recommend bringing swimwear, a bright hat, a towel, and water shoes for extra comfort and it’s essential you bring a float. We do have spares available to rent at £5 per float. From October, we ask you to wear a hat, swimming gloves and socks.

Can I bring friends or family?
Of course! Wild swimming is even more enjoyable when shared. Whether you're planning a solo escape or a group outing, we can accommodate your needs- each person will need to make a separate booking and we do not allow under 18s.
